Sovereignty in the 21st Century

Oxford, Saturday 29 October 2005, 9.45am - 6.15pm

Department of Politics and International Relations, Manor Road, Oxford, UK

In association with The Centre for International Studies at University of Oxford’s Department of Politics and International Relations, this one day conference will include panel discussions on topics such as international law, human security, European integration and state-building. Confirmed speakers at this conference include Prof Sir Adam Roberts (Oxford), Prof Chris Brown (LSE), Dr. David Chandler (Westminster), Prof Mervyn Frost (King's College London), and Prof RBJ Walker (Keele).

This conference will be the ‘sister conference’ to a SAID conference at Columbia University, New York, 1-2 December 2005. Many people claim that there is a divide between the British and American wings of the discipline of International Relations. These two ‘sister conferences’ are designed to help bridge this divide, by facilitating discussion and debate between the British and American scholarly communities.

  • REGISTRATION: If you plan to attend the conference, please fill out the registration form and email it to christopher.bickerton@politics.ox.ac.uk. Attendance is free of charge.

  • DIRECTIONS & ACCOMMODATION: For those coming from out of town, SAID has compiled information regarding accommodation, travel and directions.
